The Second Story Art Gallery presents artist Todd Baldwin’s exhibition “75% Recycled,” with an opening reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at 78 First Ave.
The exhibition runs from April 26 through May 31.
Baldwin approaches making art through the challenge of ongoing materials exploration and experimentation. His current work, a series of wall-hanging assemblages of found and hand-constructed objects, pushes discarded materials out of context and into functioning as art materials. He values ideas and the learning that emerges through the studio process, and asks viewers to be open to discovery and possibility when experiencing this work.
Committed to the community, Second Story Art Gallery works with other galleries and arts organizations to promote arts and culture in Monmouth County.

COLTS NECK
This year marks the 11th annual handbell concert at Colts Neck Reformed Church at 7 p.m. Sunday, May 4, at the 72 County Road church.
The concert will feature the church’s five handbell choirs – Echo Ringers, Joyful Ringers, Morning Bells, Celebration Ringers and Exultation Ringers. The 65-plus ringers will entertain with a variety of handbell selections in different musical styles. There will be something for everyone.
The free concert will be followed by a reception in the church’s fellowship hall.

FAIR HAVEN
Mary Gatta, Ph.D., will discuss her new book, “All I Want is a Job! Unemployed Women Navigating The Public Workforce System,” at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 1, at River Road Books, 759 River Road.
“All I Want is a Job!” chronicles and analyzes the experiences of unemployed women as they navigate the public workforce system and struggle to survive unemployment during the great recession. Weaving interviews with the unemployed and the “street-level bureaucrats” who serve them, as well as her own experience going undercover in the system, Gatta brings to light the realities of American workforce policy and how it must change in today’s economy.
MIDDLETOWN
Poricy Park Conservancy’s Historic Murray Farmhouse and Barn, 345 Oak Hill Road, will be part of the annual weekend in Old Monmouth historic tour from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 3, and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 4.
Attendees will be able to explore the 1770 historic Murray Farmhouse and Barn as one of the many important sites open for this free two-day celebration of Monmouth County history. The life of Monmouth militia patriot Joseph Murray and his family will be showcased with activities such as Colonial children’s games, womanly arts, cooking over an open hearth, light infantry drill demo, tours of the authentic 18th century farmhouse and barn, plus much more. This is a Passport Community Event in celebration of Middletown 350, the township’s founding 350 years ago in 1664. Guests can collect passport stamps as mementoes from the events.
Programs will be held rain or shine, so dress accordingly.
Poricy Park Conservancy is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization. With exceptional ecological resources, the 250-acre historical and nature site makes it one of the largest parks in Monmouth County.

This is a medications only event, no needles please. The collection is part of the National Take Back Initiative.

Township Police Chief Robert Oches has announced that Police Week will be celebrated in Middletown the week of May 11.
The chief has invited all residents to acquaint themselves with the police department and its operations during this year’s open house. Members of the community, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, civic groups, students and senior citizens may take the opportunity to visit police headquarters. Guided tours of the facility will be conducted from 9:15 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, May 13–15.

The 3rd Annual Red Bank International Flavour Festival, a family friendly, outdoor celebration of international food, music, wine and beer, will be held noon to 7 p.m. Sunday, April 27.
The festival, to be held in the White Street parking lot, will feature the varied music of the Glen Burtnick Beatles Tribute, The Nerds, Brian Kirk and the Jirks, Marc Ribler Rolling Stones Tribute, Verdict, Ray Rodriquez & Swing Sabroso, Atlantic Watch Pipes and Drums, Mashwork Orange and more.
Twenty-five of Red Bank’s finest restaurants and eateries will be serving specialty international menu items from tented areas throughout the festival and international wines and beers will be available for purchase.
The festival also will feature unique vendors.
The event is a fundraiser for Red Bank RiverCenter, Monmouth Day Care and Parker Family Health Center. Rain date is Sunday, May 4.
Admission is $5 for anyone over the age of 10.

The Oceanic Free Library is hosting “Tea with Mario Buatta,” 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Friday, May 2, at the Rumson Country Club Clubhouse, 163 Rumson Road.
