RED BANK – Borough police have arrested two North Jersey men for the smash-and-grab theft at an East Front Street convenience store earlier this summer.
Police arrested Herman Rozier, 46, a Linden resident, and Kareem Gary, 32, Elizabeth, on Sept. 13 for allegedly breaking into the Welsh Farms store, on the corner of East Front and Spring streets on July 23.
Police charged Rozier with burglary, theft and criminal mischief. Gary was charged with conspiracy to commit the same crimes, according to Capt. Darren McConnell, a police spokesman.
The two men, police charge, smashed the store’s front door stealing an unspecified amount of cash and lottery tickets.
The arrest came after Matawan police arrested and charged Rozier and Gary in connection with commercial burglaries in their jurisdiction. Borough detectives had been working with their Matawan counterparts on the case, according to McConnell.
Rozier and Gary are being held at the Monmouth County Correctional Facility, Freehold, in lieu of $71,000 bail, according to McConnell.
