RED BANK – Two River Theater Company has opened its Victoria J. Mastrobuono Library, made possible through a generous bequest from the estate of the longtime arts patron.
The Victoria J. Mastrobuono Library is an intimate patrons’ lounge designed by set designer Neil Prince. The library is the first new addition to Two River Theater’s public spaces since the arts complex opened in 2005. The room features a bar for private events, gas fireplace, 80-inch TV and coffered ceilings. Warm wooden bookcases house the Jacqueline K. Aronson Collection of theater and arts books, made possible through the generous donations of 60 friends of the late Jackie Aronson. The collection includes scripts of plays produced at Two River Theater during its history.
Mastrobuono, a subscriber and donor to Two River Theater, was a longtime patron of education and the performing arts. To honor her support for the theater, Two River chose to dedicate her bequest to establishing the new library.
“When we thought about Victoria,” said Robert M. Rechnitz, Two River Theater founder and executive producer, “we thought the most appropriate way to way to honor her was with a room that has a sense of roots – and that’s what books give us. Every play starts with the words. The library offers a warm, comfortable, and inviting environment for our donors and patrons.”
Two River Theater subscribers are invited to use the library for one hour prior to performances of Stefanie Zadravec’s The Electric Baby, directed by May Adrales, running through May 5; and 2.5 Minute Ride, written by and starring Lisa Kron and directed by Mark Brokaw, running April 20-May 12.
Beginning June 1, use of the library before performances and during intermissions will be reserved for Backstage Pass donors of $250 or more. Backstage Pass is Two River’s special-access program for the theater’s closest donors and supporters. For more information, visit TRTC.org/support.
