Two River Times Wins NJPA Awards

WEST TRENTON – The New Jersey Press Association has announced The Two River Times has won a number of advertising and editorial awards for the association’s 2014 Better Newspaper Contest.
Senior reporter John Burton has won three editorial awards. He won second place in the Responsible Journalism category for Enterprise Reporting for his story “Working by Moonlight.” The association selected Burton’s article “Couple Serve God, Church Community Together” for second place in the Special Subject Writing category.
And he was named third place winner in the Environment, Health and Science Writing category for his story “Cool Spring Brings Tough Allergy Season.”
The Two River Times was named first place winner for the Best Newspaper Promotion or House Ad for its promotion of its website, www.tworivertimes.com, with the award citing the work of the publication’s production manager Chris Draper.
The association is awarding to the Red Bank-based community newspaper second place honors in the category of Best Ad for Retail Business, an advertisement promoting Veranda. That award will be presented to Draper and Vice President of Sales Dawn Stout.
The second place award in the Best Restaurant/Entertainment Ad category is being given the TRT for its advertisement for Anjelica’s, recognizing the work of Draper and sales representative Tracey Hall.
Feature Editor Judy O’Gorman Alvarez and Cyndy Halsey Mernick, the publication’s layout and design specialist, won second place for Packaging the News: Special Issue for TRT Tastings and Paint the Town Pink.
