Valenti, Ada, Age: 95, Shrewsbury

Ada Valenti (neé Rossi) 95, of Shrewsbury, passed away peacefully June 2. She was born in Caldarola, Italy to Evasio and Lucy Rossi, emigrating from Italy to this country when she was six. The family resided in Newark.

Her working life began at the Lionel Train factory in Irvington where she met life-long friend Jennie Valenti who introduced her to her brother, Sal (Bartolo) whom she would later marry. Together they raised their daughters Vita and LuAnn, in Union.

Retiring first to Toms River, she ultimately returned to Monmouth County and resided in Shady Oaks before moving to Shrewsbury and was a parishioner of St. Catharine’s in Holmdel.

Her happiness in life was spending time with her family who will miss her dearly. Ada was an excellent cook and seamstress who created beautiful clothing for herself and daughters.

Surviving are her daughter Vita and son-in-law George Kolber of Locust. Also surviving are her cherished grandchildren Lisa Hutchings and Rick Kolber; the light of her life Sloane Isabella Hutchings; many nieces and nephews; and her sister-in-law Jennie Mazza of Clearwater, Florida.

Visitation was held June 4 at John E. Day Funeral Home. Please contact John E. Day for Mass information. Interment will be private.
