RED BANK – Volunteers are welcome to pitch in from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, for a day of planting at Riverside Gardens Park, 54, West Front St.
“We are a group of volunteers who, since 2009, have worked to care for and improve one of our area’s jewels – Riverside Gardens, in the center of downtown Red Bank,” says Bob Hespe, of Rumson, a professional gardener who coordinates the volunteer efforts. “Over the years we’ve spent hundreds of hours tending to the planting beds.”
The group is expected to plant dozens of roses, perennials, shrubs and ornamental grasses in the gardens that will be provided by the Red Bank Parks Department.
“All are welcome to come help improve this wonderful public space,” says Hespe.
Volunteers should wear work clothes and gloves. Bottled water will be provided.
