This year’s guest speaker will be talk show host Wendy Williams of The Wendy Williams Show, the nationally syndicated weekday program that airs in 52 countries. The Power of Pink Luncheon will honor Robert A. Graebe, M.D., chairman and program director, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Monmouth Medical Center.
Williams burst onto the talk show scene in July 2009 with the launch of her show which features a diverse mix of interviews with celebrity guests from television, film, music and sports. Prior to achieving success in daytime television, Williams built a devoted audience of fans throughout a successful 23-year career in radio. She was inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame in 2009 – one of only a handful of women with that honor.
In addition to talk show host, Williams is an author of The New York Times best seller The Wendy Williams Experience, (Dutton Books) as well as several novels. She contributes a regular celebrity hot topics column to the entertainment magazine Life & Style Weekly. This spring she will debut her new book, Ask Wendy with Harper Collins. Oxygen has recently announced a new exclusive first-look production deal with Williams and her production company, Wendy Williams Productions.
Williams grew up in Ocean Township, lives in Northern New Jersey with her husband Kevin and their 12-year-old son Kevin Jr.
The Women’s Council chose Graebe as this year’s honoree. An accomplished physician, Graebe has been recognized for his work in reproductive endocrinology. He is also one of the first physicians to incorporate the use of Monmouth Medical Center’s robotic surgery system to improve patient outcomes.
Prior to taking on his current role, Graebe served as section chief of reproductive endocrinology at Monmouth since 1985. Board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, Graebe is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and American Fertility Society. Among his teaching awards, he received the Nathan Kasc Award for Teaching Excellence from Yale University School of Medicine and Pelviscopy and Laser Surgery Teaching Award from the chief residents in obstetrics and Gynecology at Monmouth. He was twice honored with the Gerald R. Cureton Award for Teaching Excellence at Monmouth, and as a resident at Monmouth, he received the Robert Mackenzie Award for most outstanding obstetrics and gynecology resident, as well as the Samuel Adler Award.
Graebe received his doctor of medicine degree at Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara in Mexico, completed residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at Monmouth Medical Center and a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, Conn. He resides in the Lincroft section of Middletown.
The Power of Pink Luncheon brings together men and women to raise funds and enhance the quality of care delivered to cancer patients at Monmouth Medical Center. Proceeds from the event have contributed to a wide range of services and programs offered through the Leon Hess Cancer Center. This year’s 18th annual luncheon proceeds will fund the Patient Infusion Unit.
