WEST LONG BRANCH – Shore Regional Superintendent Mr. Thomas Farrell has announced that the field dedication ceremony will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, for longtime, legendary field hockey coach, Nancy Williams.
At the July public meeting, the Shore Regional High School Board of Education unanimously voted to dedicate the existing field hockey field in honor of Williams, who retired in June after 44 years of coaching.
Williams, who went 839-67-56 in 44 seasons at the helm of Shore field hockey, retired as the all-time winningest coach in the U.S.
Though best known for being the only field hockey coach in Shore Regional history, Williams coached six sports over three different seasons during her 44 years. She also has been heavily involved with the sport nationally, helping with All-America selections and national teams.
Under Williams direction, the Shore Regional field hockey program accomplished:

  • 19 Shore Conference Tournament titles, including the last 15 in a row.
  • Winning 19 of the 22 Shore Conference Tournaments ever played.
  • 13 overall state championships.
  • 23 sectional championships.
  • 43 consecutive division championships.
  • 16 All-Americans

Following the ceremony, the Shore Regional field hockey team will take on Middletown North at 10 a.m.
