LITTLE SILVER – Students from the Markham Place School traded places with borough officials for the day Wednesday, May 7, to see firsthand how Little Silver runs its everyday business. Mayor Robert C. Neff Jr. welcomed the students and then proceeded to swear in the student mayor and council. The mayor for the day, Thomas Lang, then called the meeting to order and followed the agenda. Students were assigned jobs with the police, fire and public works departments and other posts that help run the borough. Students gave reports and were awarded certificates at the end of the session. Those participating include, from left, Conor Smith, student judge; Charlotte Cochrane, Kevin Brennan and Erin Ostrowski, council members; “Mayor” Thomas Lang; Thomas Greenwald, council president; Luke Valentino and Laura Nagle, council members; and Bridget Tobin, borough administrator. Neff stands behind the students.
