Joseph P. Abbate, 85, of Ocean, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 2 at Care One at King James in Atlantic Highlands. Joseph was born on February 12, 1931 in Brooklyn, New York, where he grew up and lived for the majority of his life. On January 16, 1954, Joseph married the love of his life, Anna (Marcucci) Abbate. In 1994, they moved to Ocean and presently lived in Middletown.

Before retiring, Joseph worked as a printer for Terminal Printing Company in Hoboken. He was also a proud United States Army veteran, having served during the Korean War.

He was predeceased by his parents, Giacomo and Concetta (Mancuso) Abbate; and his brother, Giacomo Abbate. Joseph is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Anna (Marcucci) Abbate; his loving daughters, Joann Santulli and her husband Ron of Florida and Georgette Muratore and her husband Carl of Middletown; his sister-in-law, Lucy Abbate; and his cherished grandchildren, Cara, Allie and Ricky Muratore. Joseph is also survived by his nephews and nieces, Al Gencarelli and his wife Pat, Vincent Lombardi and his wife Aida, Donna Bonafide and her husband Bob, Connie Puzulich, and Jackie Abbate, along with many great nieces and great nephews, his beloved granddog Eddie, and many other cherished grand dogs.
