Robert Charles Armstrong, 62, died Wednesday, December 14 at home in Atlantic Highlands, after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Bob was born in Red Bank and was a lifelong resident of Highlands, before moving to Atlantic Highlands in 2013.

Bob was a graduate of Henry Hudson Regional School and received a diesel mechanic certification from Lincoln Tech before becoming a commercial lobsterman.

Over the next 40 years of commercial fishing, Bob would continue his love for being on the water, exploring different commercial fishing opportunities such as Killies, Blue Claw Crabs and Hard Clams.

Bob was a life member and ex-chief of Columbia Hose Company #1 of The Highlands Fire Department. Bob served the department for 36 years.

Bob was predeceased by his parents, George F. and Dolores E. (Hand) Armstrong; his siblings, George M. Armstrong and Cathy Ann Armstrong. He is survived by his beloved wife, Cathy (Cottrell) Armstrong; his brother, John Armstrong; his loving children, Robert Armstrong II and his wife Mary of Port Monmouth and Michael Armstrong and his wife Julie of Navesink; and two cherished grandchildren, Michael Armstrong Jr. and Robert Armstrong III.
