Leila Atallah, 74, of Middletown, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family Sept. 16 at Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel. Leila was born in Lebanon and moved to Middletown six years ago. She was a faithful parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Middletown.
She was a selfless and devoted beloved mother and grandmother. Leila’s unwavering faith and devotion to the Blessed Mother guided her and held her hand throughout her life. Although her family is heartbroken, they are comforted in knowing she is with the Lord and the Blessed Mother and all the Angels and Saints. She will be sorely missed by all her knew and loved her.
Our mother followed the steps of the blessed Virgin Mary.
She survived the civil war in Lebanon and the Christians’ persecution. She protected us with her life to be away from any harm or danger. She was a widow at 39 and consecrated her life to the family. My dad was kidnapped and he returned suffering from kidney failure. She shared his journey in dialysis until he passed. The love of God, the devotion to the blessed virgin mother and the service to others was her inheritance to us. Her 74 years on this earth where full of love and giving without expecting in return. She was a shining ray from heaven.

Surviving are her three sons and daughters-in-law, George and Juliana Chemaly, Elie and Jeanine Chemaly, Joseph and Afife Chemaly; and seven beloved grandchildren, Christy John Chemaly, Christelle Chemaly, Jeffrey Chemaly, David Chemaly, Jennifer Chemaly, Celine Chemaly and Joe Chemaly.
Visitation was held Sept. 19 at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A Funeral Liturgy offered Sept. 20 at St. Mary’s Chapel, Middletown. Entombment followed at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
