Richie Baklarz, 83, of Middletown, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Feb, 16 at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank. Richie was born on October 3, 1932 in Jersey City where he grew up. Richie was a sergeant in the United States Air Force, stationed in Biloxi, Mississippi, from 1952 through 1956. After his military service, he and his wife, Hazel, settled in Middletown.

Richie was the butcher at Wallings Market in East Keansburg for many years. He was also a stage-hand/projectionist and a former business agent with IATSE Local #536 and
a member of IATSE Local #52.

Richie enjoyed going to Broadway, Las Vegas and taking cruises. He was also a connoisseur of hot dogs and jelly donuts. He was a devout parishioner of the Church of St. Catherine Laboure in North Middletown.

He was predeceased by his beloved and devoted wife of 55 years, Hazel, who passed away in 2009; his parents, Leo and Rose (Corbran) Baklarz; and his brother, Leo Baklarz Jr. Richie was a loving and devoted father to his children, Joseph Baklarz and his wife Sue of Middletown, Edward Baklarz of Keyport, Robert Baklarz of Middletown and Diane Baklarz of Middletown; and an adoring grandfather to Kaitlyn Baklarz. His love for Kaitlyn was never ending and she was his princess.
