Muriel M. DeFazio, 92, of Red Bank, passed away on Jan. 20 at River view Medical Center, Red Bank surrounded by her loving family. Born on Dec. 13, 1923 in Orange, she was a lifelong resident of Red Bank. She was a 70 year member of the Red Bank Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and a parishioner of St. James Catholic Church. She worked as a bank of ficer until she retired in 1993, then worked as a crossing guard in Red Bank until 2012. Muriel was always omnipresent in the Borough of Red Bank in many facets and enjoyed contributing her time and services. Her love for the Red Bank community will not soon be forgotten.

Muriel was predeceased by her husband Peter G. DeFazio in 1977, and son-in-law George Keefer in 2004 and longtime companion Johnny “Johnny A” Abbatemarco in 2014.

She is survived by children, Bea Keefer of Warrenton, Virginia and Peter and Kathy DeFazio of Red Bank. Her grandchildren, George Keefer, Kim Childers (Dave), Diana Wieczerzak (Thomas) and Lori DeFazio (Paul) and her five great-grandchildren.
