Anthony J. DeMarco Sr., 85, of Middletown, died May 21 at his home. He was born in East Keansburg to the late Louis and Mary DeMarco and lived in the Middletown area his whole life. Anthony graduated from Middletown High School and was a member of a Hall of Fame football team from the school. Anthony served in the U.S. Army and made the rank of corporal. He was a general contractor by trade and owned and operated DeMarco Builders. He was a member of the Middletown Lions Club and was a Melvin Jones Award winner. He also served on the Middletown Sewerage Authority Board. He was an avid skier when able and he was a wonderful man who was always interested in listening to others.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothea (neé Murofsky) DeMarco; his daughter and son-in-law, Gabrielle and Louis Illiano of Atlantic Highlands; his three sons and daughters-in-law, Anthony and Renee DeMarco of Middletown, Michael and Abby DeMarco of Poughkeepsie, New York, and David and Geralyn DeMarco of Lincroft; his three grandsons, Michael Illiano, David DeMarco, Thomas DeMarco; three granddaughters, Elizabeth Illiano, Jenna DeMarco, Haley DeMarco; and his brother and sister-in-law, John and Lane DeMarco.
Anthony was preceded in death by his siblings, Louis DeMarco, Salvatore DeMarco, Constance D’Urso and Raymond Raimondo.
Visitation was held May 24 at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. Funeral services were May 25 at the funeral home. A Funeral Liturgy was offered May 25 at Church of the Nativity, Fair Haven.
