Doris R. Dugan, 86, of Hazlet, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, January 10 at Bayshore Health Care Center in Holmdel. She was born Doris R. Samuel on January 22, 1929 in East Orange. Throughout Doris’ life, she had lived in Bloomfield, Keansburg and Freehold. In 1964, she and her family settled in Hazlet where she remained.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Edward A. Dugan; her grandson, Edward Joseph “E.J.” Lejeune; her parents, Charles and Rose (Smejkal) Samuel; and her stepmother, Mary Klepp Samuel. Doris is survived by her loving daughters, Susan A. Dowd and her husband Timothy of Charlotte, N.C., Sharon A. Lyczek and her husband Stanley “Stash” of Hazlet and Linda A. Lejeune and her husband Joseph of Farmingdale; her cherished grandchildren, Joseph Nicholas Lejeune, Kelly Elizabeth Dowd-Shea and her husband Keith, Kaitlyn Rose Dowd-Yagey and her husband Scott and Ryan Scott Dowd and his wife Katie; her dear sister-in-law, Lucy Dugan; and many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends, as well as one great-granddaughter on the way. The family wishes to extend their thanks and appreciation to the Bayshore Health Care Center staff, namely the B Wing Nursing and CNA Staff. Also, a heartwarming thanks to the Meridian Hospice team, especially Ronnie Feigin. She will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 13 at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Hazlet. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, January 14 at 10:15 a.m. at The Catholic Church of St. Ann, 311 Carr Avenue, Keansburg. Interment will follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, 299 Freehold-Englishtown Road, Freehold.
