Garrison, Helen Jane, Red Bank

827

Helen Jane (Senion) Garrison passed away peacefully on August 5, 2016. Jane, as she preferred to be called, was born in Red Bank, NJ in 1927. She graduated from Red Bank High School in 1945, and worked in various law and medical offices in Red Bank for many years. She was an office administrator for Drs. Whelan, Dedick, and Reed (now Red Bank Radiology) until her retirement.

Jane married Robert Garrison in 1950 and they moved to Little Silver to begin their family. They had four children, Greg, Gail, Amy and Matthew. She remained in their home in Little Silver until her illness no longer allowed it. She was a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church in Red Bank.

Jane was an avid gardener and she could be found on most sunny days weeding and tending to her flower beds. She and her group of high school friends would also get together every month to play Bridge, although as the years passed there was more chatting and snacking then there was card playing. Jane loved being a homemaker, and she thoroughly enjoyed baking and entertaining. She also loved a bargain, and was always in search of the best ones.

In her later years her grandchildren became the center of her world, and she loved every one of them unconditionally. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her family on holidays and special occasions.

Jane was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Helen (Coyne) Senion of Red Bank; and her brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Audrey (Carhart) Senion of Red Bank. She is survived by her husband, Robert of Little Silver; her children, Greg, Gail, Amy and her husband, Tom, and Matthew and his wife, Lisa; and her 11 grandchildren, Dan, Anna, Robert, Jonathan, Braden, Elizabeth, Corie, Jennifer, Jessica, Kerin and Christopher. Her strong will, determination, love for family and wonderful sense of humor will live on through them. She is also survived by her nephew, Jerry Senion and his wife, Mary; her niece, Lynn Jackson and her husband, Charles; and many cousins and friends. While her mind may have betrayed her, her heart and her soul always remained true. She will be greatly missed, and fondly remembered.

The family would also like to acknowledge the staff at the Arbor Terrace Assisted Living facility in Tinton Falls. You treated her with dignity, respect and empathy and you made her last months comfortable and happy. We will forever be grateful.

John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank, was in charge of arrangements. The family is requesting that memorial donations be sent to The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th fl., New York, NY 10001. Donations can also be made online at www.alzfdn.org.
