Santina V. Giordano, better known as “Sandy,” 92, of Hazlet, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, March 26. She was born Santina V. Bonnano on October 31, 1923 in Staten Island, New York, where she grew up and lived for the majority of her life. In 1985, she settled in Hazlet.

Throughout her life, Sandy worked as an executive secretary for multiple companies. She worked for Willowbrooke State  School and U.S.P.H.S. Hospital, both in Staten Island, New York, and in her later years, retired from the Department of Health, Education and Welfare in Manhattan, New York.

She was a devout parishioner of Holy Family Church in Union Beach, where she also volunteered and was a member of the Altar Rosary Society. Some of her interests included reading and bingo, and she loved to dance.

She was predeceased by her parents, Andrew and Angelina (Marrone) Bonnano; her beloved husband, Ross Giordano; and her children, Camille Scanzani and Salvatore Giordano.

Sandy is survived by her loving daughter, Angela Pena and her husband, Guillermo, of Matawan; her cherished grandchildren, Andrew Palmieri and his wife, Elaini, of Jackson, Vanessa Ketcham and her husband, Justin, of Manalapan, Veronica Petruzzelli and her husband, Adam, of Jackson and Victor Scanzani and his fiance, Yithan Arteaga Tong, of Keyport. She is also survived by her adored great-grandchildren, Gianna Palmieri, Luciano Palmieri and Camille Ketcham; her dear son-in-law, Charles Palmieri and his wife, Barbara, of Jackson; and her very special cat, Amber.
