Edna M. Hurley, 94, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 20, at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. to the late Gustav and Edna (Murray) Muller. Edna resided at Atria Tinton Falls and she was formerly from Plainfield, Watchung and Brick. Edna volunteered for the Watchung Rescue Squad, the VNA Thrift Shop in Manasquan, and Brick Hospital Thrift Shop for more than 25 years. She was one of the founders and a member of Wetumpka Twig Organization and a member of the Questers. Edna loved to help others and spend time with her family and friends.

She is predeceased by her husband, James W. Hurley and her sister, Kay Griemsmann. Surviving are her two daughters; Deidre Sincox and her husband George of Sea Bright, and Mary Hurley of Long Branch; her sister, Joan Smith of Granville, Ohio; her three grandchildren, David Sincox and his wife Jennifer, Jennifer Sincox, and Leigh Ann Riker and her husband Jason, her five great grandchildren, Ryan, Kristen, Jacob, Lillian, and Nathan. Also surviving are many loving nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Bay Head at 10 a.m. Saturday Sept. 26. Interment will follow at St. Catharine’s Cemetery in Sea Girt. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be sent in Edna’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the charity of your choice.
