Lifelong educator, Madonna Therese Kelly, 59, of Spring Lake and recently of Durham, North Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, July 27 at Duke University Hospital, Durham, North Carolina. Ms. Kelly was born in Jersey City. She was a graduate of the Academy of Saint Aloysius in Jersey City. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from Georgian Court University, Lakewood.
She was a lifelong educator who was employed for many years at St. Dominic’s School in Brick Township and also taught at various special education assignments. Ms. Kelly enjoyed reading, music, cryptogram and other word puzzles, and loved the Jersey Shore.
She was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Marie Kelly of Jersey City and Spring Lake; and by her sister, Elizabeth Kelly. Ms. Kelly is survived by her siblings, Thomas (Mary) Kelly of Seattle, Washington, Mary Kelly of Washington, D.C., Margaret (David) Clements of Durham, North Carolina, and Denis (Sue) of Scotch Plains; and by five nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial and interment will take place at a later date at St. Margaret’s Church in Spring Lake at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20.
