Elizabeth (Betsy) Kerekesh, 88, passed away on Friday, December 2nd at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank. Betsy was born in Glen Ridge but spent most of her life in Rumson before moving to Shrewsbury 15 years ago.

Throughout her life, Betsy was an avid sports lover … everything from ice-boating on the Navesink River to riding on an equestrian team at the National Horse Show in Madison Square Garden. But, her lifelong passion was golf which she played for over 50 years and was Women’s Club Champion at Beacon Hill Country Club in 1979.

Betsy was also an accomplished artist and started a business in the 1960s, Quacker Box, painting waterfowl decoys that were sold in New York. She then moved into the world of real estate and worked for Gloria Nilson in Rumson for more than 25 years.

Elizabeth is predeceased by her parents; as well as her first husband, John Dunigan and second husband, Robert Kerekesh. Surviving are her children, Patricia Dunigan of Rumson, John Dunigan of Fair Haven, Michael Dunigan of Little Silver and Drew Ann Dunigan of Vero Beach, Florida. And, “Mimi” had five grandchildren, Ryan, Elizabeth, Jack, Rory and Julia.
