Robert James Krzyzkowski, 51, of Basking Ridge, died on July 12 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset in Somerville. He was born in South Amboy, raised in Middletown and lived in Basking Ridge for the past four years. Bob was a graduate of Middletown High School South. He earned his BA in communications from Glassboro State College and an MBA from Moravian College. He worked as a director of finance for Everest Re Group, LTD in Liberty Corner. He enjoyed surfing, fishing, playing guitar and his vintage motorcycle.
Surviving are his wife, Sarah Dearstyne; his parents, Philip and Barbara (nee Valese) Krzyzkowski; his brother, David Krzyzkowski of Middletown; his brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Kathy Krzyzkowski of Fort Collins, Colorado; his sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Steven Hornberger of Robbinsville; his in-laws, John and Judith Dearstyne of Delmar, New York; his sister-in-law and her husband, Lisa and Alex Sardo of Geneva, Illinois; and his nieces and nephews, Brandon, Arianna and Sage Krzyzkowski, Heather and Stefani Stauffacher, Nicole and Ryan Hornberger and Alexis and Preston Sardo.
Bob was predeceased by his sister, Karen Krzyzkowski in 1990; and his beloved dog, Charlie.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Igor Gavrilovic and the staff at Memorial Sloan Kettering for their care and compassion through Bob’s illness. The family also wishes to thank the medical and nursing staff at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset for their compassionate care of Bob during his final days.
