John James Masse, 67, of Monmouth Beach, passed away suddenly on April 24 at Raritan Bay Medical Center. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, before moving to Middletown and eventually settling in Monmouth Beach 18 years ago. In John’s early years he enjoyed playing football and later had a love for golfing, traveling, reading and classic cars. When John was 15 he loved to play the horn in Drumcore where he made friends for life and met his one true love and best friend, Peggy.

John worked for Morgan Stanley where he started working in the mailroom and eventually retired as executive director. He was the president of the Amici Italian Benevolent Association where they raised money for dif ferent causes and charities.

He was predeceased by his mother, Geneva Masse. Surviving are his loving wife of 46 years, Peggy (Tyrrell) Masse; his beloved children, Chris and his wife Jenn Masse and Nicole Masse and Tom Meidhof; his brother, Frank and his wife Bernadette Massel; his sister, Carlotta Herbst and her husband Jim; and his nieces and nephews, Bill Robison, Tony Robison and Gina Howe.

Visitation will be held at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave., Red Bank, on Friday, April 29 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Church of the Precious Blood, Monmouth Beach, on Saturday, April 30 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent in John’s memory to the Amici Italian Benevolent Association, P.O.
