Meyer of Naperville, Illinois and Fort Mill, South Caroline; his sister, Jacqueline Saunders of Burke, Virginia; his sons, James of Darien, Connecticut, John of North Port, Florida, Matthew of Hoboken and Thomas of Durham, North Caroline; his 11 grandchildren and his 22 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Sara Dixon Meyer; his brother, Edward (Ted); sister, Judith Lamborn; and his granddaughter, Hannah.

He served in the United States Army, stationed in Germany during the Korean War, and retired as vice president and board member of Walter D. Peek, Jr. & Sons, a paper brokerage firm in New York City.

Bob was a committed husband, father, friend and colleague who embodied the Christian values of faith, hope and love. He was a strong advocate for the mission of the Catholic Church and used his gifts of humility and gentleness to reflect the love of God working in him. He was a gentleman with a winsome character that instantly made him a friend to those he met and a treasure to those who loved him.

Bob was fortunate to have been married to two strong and wonderful women whom he loved and cherished. He loved his sons and grandchildren and was blessed to have had the love and fellowship of Mary’s family during their 17 years together.

The family welcomed visitors May 3 at the Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated May 4 at St. Catherine’s Church, Middletown.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Bob’s honor to Missionaries of Charity, 141 Ridge Ave., Asbury Park, NJ 07712.
