James E. Morenz, 57, of Highlands, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank. James was born on April 13, 1959 in Freehold, and grew up in the Highlands, where he presently resided. On December 4, 1994, he and his wife, Jackie, were married and began their life together. James was currently the Captain of the fishing boat, “Mistake 2,” and he was also the store manager at Julian’s Bait & Tackle. His family described him as a great person, who had a heart of gold. He was soft-spoken, and would do anything for anyone, and was always extending himself for the people he loved.

He was predeceased by his father, Captain “Whitey” Fred Morenz, and his mother, Isabell Morenz. James is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 21 years, Jacquelyn “Jackie” Morenz, his children, Laurie and Jimmy, his stepson, Will Greene, his siblings, Fred Morenz and Patricia Bowser, and his best friend, who was like a brother to him, Chad Hacker. James is also survived by his cherished grandson, Brody Michael Greene, his sister-in-law, Sharen Sacchi and her husband Roger, and many special nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. He will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.
