Eileen O’Neil, 65, of Union Beach, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursdsay, August 20. Eileen was born on August 8, 1950 in Jersey City and was raised in Navesink. Later on in life, she settled in Atlantic Highlands where she raised her daughter, Amanda.
Throughout her years, Eileen was dedicated, compassionate, and selfless in her work and personal life. During her career, Eileen worked in a variety of different establishments in the health care field and absolutely loved caring for and comforting people. Most recently, she had worked for Dr. Kris Gopal with Regional Cancer Care Associates in Holmdel and was adored by staff and patients alike.
Even greater than her commitment to her work was her commitment to her family, especially her daughter, Amanda, whom she loved and cherished.
She was the eldest of eight children, and her family described her as a wonderful big sister and mother.
Eileen was predeceased by her mother, Dolores O’Neil. She is survived by her loving daughter, Amanda O’Neil of Union Beach; her dear siblings, Jeanne Sepp and her husband Steven of Leonardo, Catherine Nagy of Keyport, Charles “Mickey” O’Neil and his wife Christine of Navesink, Mary Kugelman and her husband Thomas of Rumson, Nancy Zitzmann and her husband David of Greenville, New York, Carol Reuter of Keansburg and Christine Cole of Slate Hill, N.Y.; along with 22 cherished nieces, nephews, and their spouses, and four adored great nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.
Visitation and prayer service was held on Sunday, August 23 at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Hazlet. In respect of Eileen’s wishes, she will be privately cremated and interred at Fair View Cemetery in Middletown. Memorial donations to the RAINE Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
