Lois M. O’Neill, 78, of Middletown, passed away Saturday, Nov. 25. Lois was born and raised in New York, a daughter of the late Laura and Leonard Langlois. She moved to Belford in 1975 and in 1990 to Marlboro. Lois worked as a secretary for the Monmouth County Sheriffs’ Department for 15 years, retiring in 1999. Prior to that she held secretarial jobs at NASA in Florida, Lever Brothers in New York City and CPC Behavioral Center. Lois was also a bailiff for the Monmouth County Superior Court. Lois proudly put herself through Brookdale Community College and computer school. Lois enjoyed helping her community. She was a literacy volunteer in Red Bank and won several awards for her charitable work with 180 Turning Lives Around. She was an excellent seamstress who enjoyed making her children’s clothes. Lois was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Parish and sang in their choir from 1975-1990.

Lois is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth (Gene) Grasso, of Belford; Sara (Daniel) Munford, of Pennsylvania; two sons, Andrew (Kathleen) O’Neill, of Farmingdale; and Edward (Valerie) O’Neill, of Belford. Lois also leaves behind nine grandchildren. Lois was predeceased by her sister, Marilyn Ward, earlier this year. Her sister, Yvonne Short, passed the day after Lois. Arrangements were handled by Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals, 153 Church St., Belford.
