Patricia (Gearty) Ross, 54, died peacefully at home on November 26, 2016, in Nashville, Tennessee, after a long battle with cancer. “Patty” as she was known to family and friends, was born on Mother’s Day, May 13, 1962 in Long Branch. Her early years were spent in the Monmouth County area, where she was an active participant in youth sports, Girl Scouts and 4H Club.

After graduating from Holy Cross School and Rumson Fair-Haven Regional High School, Patty attended Paul Smith’s College in Saranac Lake New York, obtaining degrees in both hotel and restaurant management. She also graduated from Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Los Angeles, California.

Most of Patty’s working career was spent with the Marriott Corporation in Boston, New York City, Tarrytown in New York, and Los Angeles. In Nashville, she utilized her baking skills at Opryland and the Publix supermarket organization.

Patty was predeceased by her mother, Mary Jo Gearty. Patty is survived by her husband, John, of Nashville; her father, Robert P. Gearty Sr. of Enosburgh Falls, Vermont; two brothers, Robert P. Gearty Jr. and his wife Susan of Oakhurst and Michael J. Gearty and his wife Deborah of Sierra Vista, Arizona; four nieces and nephews, Alicia, Sean, Brian and Kelly.

A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. on May 20 at the Church of the Nativity in Fair Haven.
