Thomas J. Sheridan, 83, of Middletown, died Nov. 20 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Manhattan and lived in the Bronx before serving in the U.S. Army. He then met and married Carol, who was from Brooklyn, and they settled in the middle, in Queens, where they lived and raised their family for 39 years. They retired to the Middletown area in 1999.

Thomas was a computer mechanic, as it was known then, for Univac. He was IT (Information Technology) before IT was around. He was an avid reader, spending copious amounts of time at the library. He enjoyed music and collecting movies. He also enjoyed spending time on or around the water. He had a garden at home that he tended to in his quiet times. Thomas’ greatest passion was for his family; he loved each of them dearly and would do anything for them.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years Carol (neé Gamble); his son and daughter-in-law Thomas and Christine Sheridan; his two daughters and sons-in-law, Catherine and Kevin Freibott and Eileen and Ivan Kamin; and his six grandchildren, Kevin Thomas, Elizabeth, Aidan, Kiera, Bridget and Sean.

Thomas was preceded in death by his granddaughter Mary Caitlin Freibott, his brother John Sheridan, and his parents John and Bridget Sheridan.

Visitation was held Nov. 25 at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. Funeral services were Nov. 26 at the funeral home. A Funeral Liturgy was offered Nov. 26 at St. James RC Church, Red Bank. Burial followed at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
