The sale of a 31.25-acre site on the former Fort Monmouth U.S. Army base to Robert Wood Johnson/Barnabas Health has stalled following the discovery of “emerging” environmental concerns on the property.

Promising a bigger, better, tastier experience, organizers have announced the second annual Bougie FoodieCon will again take place on the grounds of Fort Monmouth’s Russel Hall Saturday and Sunday, June 1 and 2.

The 12-soundstage production studio planned by Netflix for almost 300 acres of Fort Monmouth will run roughly down the center of the fort from Oceanport Avenue to Route 35.

Trinity Hall, the all-girls Catholic high school at 101 Corregidor Road on the former Fort Monmouth, is planning its second expansion since opening in 2015 in the base’s former Child Development Center.

FORT MONMOUTH – Shortly after 5 p.m. Feb. 21, members of the Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority (FMERA) unanimously voted to approve revised plans for Netflix Studios Fort Monmouth, a major production studio on 292-plus acres of the former U.S. Army base.

Monmouth County has stepped up to resolve the emergency medical service (EMS) crisis triggered by a critical shortage of volunteers. The county launched its own EMS hub called MedStar, located at the Charles Wood Fire Station on the borough’s former Fort Monmouth grounds, to assist surrounding agencies in need of emergency medical services.

The borough hall was packed for Oceanport’s reorganization meeting as officials were sworn in, honors were doled out, and a new mayor took his seat on the dais.

Imagine the biggest performing artists of the day recording their most popular hits and new compositions for members of the United States Armed Forces to enjoy – for free. Red Bank’s William J. “Count” Basie and other music legends did just that over a six-year period during and just after World War II in what was called the V-Disc program. 

Oceanport asked Netflix for a town hall for Christmas. The borough could get it for Easter.
