Marilyn M. Tukis (Cerny), of Fair Haven, passed away on Monday, April 18. Marilyn was born in Brooklyn, New York, and resided in Fair Haven for the last 52 years before recently relocating to Arbor Terrace Senior Living, Middletown.

In addition to raising four children, Marilyn was employed by the Fair Haven Public Schools as a lunchroom aid and crossing guard for more than 25 years, retiring in 2007.

Marilyn took great pleasure in sitting on the beach, reading and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoyed 35 summers at Ship Ahoy Beach Club where she made many longtime friendships both on and off the beach. She was an active member and treasurer of the Fair Haven Seniors and enjoyed weekly card games, luncheons and bus trips. For the past few years she could be seen volunteering at the local election polls. After relocating to Arbor Terrace in September, Marilyn quickly became engaged in bingo, luncheons and outings with the other residents. She loved being active no matter the circumstances.

Marilyn was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Joseph; her parents, Rudolph and Magdalena Cerny; and her sister, Eleanor Barrett. Surviving are her four children, Jeannette and Bob Watson of North East, Maryland, Larry and Deb Tukis of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, Michele and Tom Famulary of Rumson, and Mary Beth and John Coleman of Neptune. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Ashley Watson and fiancé Chris Hasse, Rebecca Watson and fiancé Ryan Gibson, Thomas and Jennifer Famulary, and Maria and Zachary Tukis; and a great-grandson, Ryan Watson.

Visitation will be on Saturday, April 23 at 11 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 1:30 p.m. at the Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St., Red Bank.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fair Haven First Aid Squad, 645 River Rd., Fair Haven, NJ 07704.
