Maryanne “Nell” Wilsterman, 88, of West Falmouth, passed away on
Thursday, October 8. She was born on May 27, 1927 in Upper Darby, Pa.,
the daughter of Raymond and Edna Macgregor. Nell graduated from
West Chester State College in West Chester, Pa., with a degree in teaching.
Before settling on Cape Cod, Mass., Nell lived in Media, Pa.,
Marshfield, Mass., and in Little Silver. While living locally, she attended
St. John’s Church and worked at Gift Winds for many years.
On September 9, 1950, Nell married James A. Wilsterman (predeceased),
whom she met in high school. They were happily married for
62 years. In addition to raising their three children, Nell taught elementary
school for 10 years in Media, Pa., and Marshfield, Mass.
Nell was an avid gardener, loved wildflowers and had an overflowing
perennial garden. She had a deep fondness for all children. Pictures of
family members abounded in her home. Because she was exceptionally
kind and loving, her sons gave her the nickname “Nell” after Nell
Fenwick, the sweet natured character from the Dudley Do-Right cartoon.
Her sons, Eric J. Wilsterman of Boston, Mass., John D. Wilsterman
of Amelia Island, Fla., and Robert B. Wilsterman, MD, of Falmouth,
Mass., their spouses and seven beloved grandchildren survive Nell. The
Wilsterman family is honoring Nell’s request for a private burial and
memorial service. They wish to thank all of the nurses and doctors who
cared for her at Falmouth Hospital and JML Care Center over the years.
