10/11 – Dems Rally in Red Bank

RED BANK – With 3½ weeks until the general election and six days to the special Senate election, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Barbara Buono proclaimed, “It’s time to double down and call out the troops,” as she spoke to a roomful of those troops in Red Bank on Thursday.
Buono joined her running mate, lieutenant governor candidate Milly Silva, and the Monmouth County-slate of the party’s candidates on the county, state and local levels, and party officials as the held a rally at the Bates Elks Lodge 220, 306 Shrewsbury Ave. They were there to fire up the party faithful for the looming elections with Buono and Silva continuing to wage their battle against incumbent Republican Gov. Chris Christie, and Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno.
Newark Mayor Cory Booker, a Democrat, is battling Republican Steve Lonegan for a U.S. Senate seat contest which will be decided during a special election on Wednesday, Oct. 16.
Booker canceled his appearanceat the event because of his father’s death earlier that day, said Vin Gopal, the county party chairman.
