It used to be section finals were the end of the road for public high school football teams. But in year four of true state championships, trophies are handed out for section titles before teams need two more wins for the coveted state title trophy.

LINCROFT – Just 17 days earlier, Christian Brothers Academy was on the losing side when archrival Red Bank Catholic celebrated winning the Monmouth County baseball crown. This time around, the Colts came out on top – and got the higher-stakes trophy – dispatching the Caseys 11-1 in five innings to win the Non-Public A South championship.

RED BANK – Red Bank Catholic has been a part of the Jersey Drives U Got Brains Champion Schools program for more than a decade and for most of those years, the school earned honorable mentions for its work promoting safe driving.

Christian Brothers Academy had a good week on the diamond. A really good week.

Some students at Red Bank Catholic do their best learning not in the classroom sitting at desks but in emergency rooms, courtrooms and engineering labs.

RED BANK – The recipient of this year’s Dennis P. Lynch ’59 Merit Scholarship is Tyler Rocha, an incoming freshman in the Red Bank Catholic Class of ’27.

Red Bank Catholic (RBC) girls soccer coach Frank Lawrence was fired last month after he was arrested for allegedly shoving one of his players.

Some could argue that winning the Shore Conference baseball tournament is just as hard or even harder than a state title. That makes the run of Red Bank Catholic’s baseball team truly impressive in a league that will have multiple teams make deep runs in the upcoming state playoffs.

For 37 years, students at Red Bank Catholic (RBC) benefited from the loving encouragement and tough teaching style of Sister Joanmarie McDonnell who retired in 2019. A member of the English department at the high school, she taught generations of students, making an impact on many lives.

The lobby of the Eck Center was filled with athletes and proud family members. The line was long to get to the table for pictures for Red Bank Catholic’s spring Signing Day ceremony, a testament to an athletic department that continually produces student-athletes who move on to play collegiately in just about every sport the school offers.
