FORT HANCOCK — The National Park Service is seeking parties interested in redeveloping historic structures at Fort Hancock, a historic former military installation, located at Gateway National Recreation Area at Sandy Hook. The service has issued a request for expressions of interest (RFEI), inviting interested parties to submit conceptual proposals for the location’s future uses. That and other information can be obtained at www.forthancock21stcentury.org. Questions can be submitted to forthancock21stcentury@yahoo.com, until Monday, Dec. 9
The National Park Service will be conducting site visits of the fort location for interested parties starting at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6 and Thursday Nov. 14.
Final submissions are due no later than 5 p.m. on Monday Dec. 16.
The National Park Service in 2012 convened the Fort Hancock 21st Century Advisory Committee to explore ways to restore and preserve the structures at the former fort, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a national historic landmark.
