RED BANK – Maintenance on the NJ Transit crossing at Broad Street and Newman Springs Road was completed earlier than anticipated, sparing drivers and police the expected traffic headaches.
Police Chief Darren McConnell said work was completed on the crossing and it was reopened to traffic between midnight and 1 a.m. Monday.
Initially, plans called for the work to be hopefully completed by Monday sometime, or by Tuesday morning.
Police had been expecting “a mess” of a commute for motorists on Monday.
