LONG BRANCH – The Purr’n Pooch Foundation for Animals will hold its 4th Annual 5K Canine Classic Run/Walk Classic on Saturday, Oct. 4, to benefit animal charity
The race starts at 8 a.m. Awards will be presented at 9:30 a.m.
More than 100 participants and their dogs will be attending. Dogs are required to run or walk on leash. One dog per handler/runner is requested. Race is rain or shine. The course is flat along the boardwalk, out and back, closed to motor vehicles, and professionally chip-timed. After the race, there will be bagels and refreshments, and awards will be presented to the 1st Overall Male and Female Runner; 1st, 2nd, 3rd Overall Male Runner/K9 Team; and 1st, 2nd, 3rd Overall Female Runner/K9 Team.
Participants can pre-register at www.purrnpoochfoundation.org. Race shirts will be given to all pre-registered two-legged participants and are subject to availability for same day registrants.
Cost is $35 on race day, and dogs walk or run for free.
The event will be held at Pier Village located at One Chelsea Avenue.
