LITTLE SILVER — Members of the Little Silver Fire Department and firefighters from neighboring communities spent about four hours on Monday afternoon putting out a blaze on the borough’s nature trail.
The fire, first reported at 2:06 p.m., damaged about four acres of the nature trail, off of Prospect Avenue, and took approximately 40 fire fighters to get it under control and extinguish the hot spots, said Little Silver Fire Chief Peter Giblin.
Along with Little Silver, members of the Fair Haven, Shrewsbury, Red Bank and Oceanport departments provided mutual aid, Giblin said
The fire was contained to the trail and did not damage private property and there were no injuries reported. Giblin said.
