4/21 – Matawan Man Charged with Armed Robbery of Keyport Gas Station

FREEHOLD – Police and detectives from the New Jersey State Police have arrested a Matawan man in connection with the recent armed robbery of a Keyport gas station with was captured on the gas station’s surveillance video.
Richard E. Kinzler, 25, was taken into custody Wednesday, April 16, and charged with first-degree counts of armed robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, according to Charles Webster, a spokesman for the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.
Authorities allege Kinzler entered the Shell gas station/convenience store at 110 Clark St., at about 2:20 a.m. April 7 and proceeded to use a knife to threaten the cashier and take the cash register. Police circulated the video and stills from the video to help identify and apprehend the suspect, Webster said.
Kinzler is being held at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution, Freehold, in lieu of $150,000 bail, with the option to post a 10 percent bond, Webster said.
