Monmouth County Democratic Chairman and business owner Vin Gopal has established a new not-for-profit charitable organization, which he’s calling “Jersey Promise.”
“I decided to launch Jersey Promise after witnessing friends and neighbors struggle in unimaginable ways post-Hurricane Sandy,” Gopal said.
Jersey Promise is organizing a turkey and toy drives for the holidays for those in need; a food drive to support local food banks; a coat drive for the winter months; grocery assistance and check-in programs for seniors and shut-ins; GED training programs; tutoring and SAT prep assistance for students in need; and resume assistance and job search support.
The organization’s mission is “to lift the burden of those in need and help unleash the potential within us,” Gopal said.
The effort will formally launch from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, during a reception at Dauphin Grille at the Berkeley Hotel, 1401 Ocean Ave., Asbury Park. Tickets are $30 and include a full dinner.
Additional information is available by visiting the organization’s website at www.jerseypromise.org.
Gopal, Long Branch, was elected Democratic chairman in 2012; he owns MarketME, which does printing and embroidery for direct marketing merchandise, and co-owns My Community Publications, publishing community newspapers in Monmouth County.
