FREEHOLD – Property owners should be aware that the property assessment process and the timeframe for filing a property tax appeal is changing the Monmouth County Board of Taxation has announced.
Assessment postcards for tax year 2014 will be mailed to property owners on or about Nov. 15. In years past taxpayers would have received the card in February of the tax year.
Property owners wishing to appeal that assessment must file by Jan. 15, 2014.
The change is a result of Gov. Chris Christie signing into law the Assessment Demonstration Program, which will enact a number of changes to the assessment process over the next five years.
Municipal assessors should be contacted for additional information.
