9/25 – Sorrentino Brothers Involved in Tax 'Situation'

NEWARK – Michael “The Situation” Sorrentino, from MTV’s “The Jersey Shore” fame, and his brother, Marc Sorrentino, have more to worry about than life on the Seaside boardwalk as they face a federal tax fraud indictment for allegedly not paying taxes on more than $8.9 million in income.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, a federal grand jury has charged the brothers with one count of conspiracy to defraud the United States. The Sorrentinos also  are charged with filing false tax returns for 2010 through 2012. Michael additionally was charged with failing to file a tax return for 2011.
Michael Sorrentino, know as “The Situation,” gained notoriety appearing on the MTV reality show, detailing his and other young adults often bad behavior at the shore community. Marc functioned as his business manager during the period covered in the indictment.
Authorities said the two allegedly conspired to avoid paying taxes on the $8.9 million received and controlled by the brothers’ companies MPS Entertainment, LLC and Situation Nation, Inc., earned through their promotional activities.
