Middletown Township Public Library is holding a Grandparents Day special event at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6, in the Community Room at 55 New Monmouth Road.
Denise Weiner, artist, author and Middletown resident, will be offering a special art workshop in honor of Grandparents Day. Grandparents (or other caregivers) and children, ages 2-5, will learn about the creative process as they work together. This is a “dress for mess” program. Copies of Weiner’s book, Art Lessons from Grandma: Having Fun, Creating Love, and Learning About Life, will be available for sale. Preregistration is required and may be completed at www.mtpl.org.

Poricy Park Conservancy is holding its 6th Annual Fun Scouting Skills Day on Saturday, Sept. 14, at Poricy Park.
Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts are invited to explore the park and learn some Scouting skills while having fun. Activities include Going Up & Down, Endangered Hoppit, Camping Relay, Scout Senses and Moxie Monarchs.
Staggered start times are 1:15 to 3:30 p.m. and will be assigned in September; allow 1 1/2 to 2 hours to complete activities. The program is popular and registration closes at 120 Scouts.
Cost is $12 per Scout, if registered by Friday, Sept. 13, and includes a special patch to be delivered at the event. Registrations will not be accepted on the day of the event.

The New Jersey Blind Citizens Association (NJBCA) and the Middletown Lions Club Foundation is hosting from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, its Eighth Annual Auto Show & Motorcycle Meet. The charitable family-friendly event, organized to help fund programs for the blind and visually impaired and other sight-related initiatives, will be held at the Middletown Shopping Center on Route 35 at New Monmouth Road. The rain date is Sunday, Sept. 22.
The event theme, Happy Together, will celebrate the decades-long partnership between the Lions and the NJBCA. The afternoon of free activities will feature classic cars of all types, motorcycles, vendors and entertainment for adults and children.
One hundred percent of the event proceeds will support the charitable programs and initiatives of both NJBCA and the Middletown Lions Club Foundation, 501 (c) (3) organizations.
All classes of vehicles will be featured. The entrance fee for vehicles is $12 in advance and $15 on the day of the show. Registration forms are available on the websites of the Middletown Lions Club at www.mlions.org and the NJBCA at www.njbca.org.

Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association presents Doo-Wop Finale: Shirley Alston Reeves (of The Shirelles), The Duprees, Kenny Vance and the Planotones at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7 at the Great Auditorium.

RED BANK
Pilgrim Baptist Church of Red Bank at 172 Shrewsbury Ave. will host at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, its annual Community Back-to-School Worship and Prayer Service.
The service will feature the Music Ministry of Pilgrim as well as congregational prayers for parents, students, educators, school administrators and school districts as they prepare for the upcoming school year.
