Lil’ Cutie Pops Opens Shop in Red Bank
Lil’ Cutie Pops celebrated its grand opening at 16 Monmouth St., Red Bank, last month with a ribbon-cutting ceremony with Mayor Pat Menna. Lil’ Cutie Pops is a dessert boutique featuring cake pops, specialty designer pops, French macaroons and more.
“It has always been my dream to open up a store in Red Bank and I am thrilled to be offering these new sweets with creative spin to the community,” said Melanie Pomerico, Lil’ Cutie Pops.
Helping Employees Recover from Sandy
MIDDLETOWN – Daniel E. Straus (far left in a suit and tie), chief executive officer for CareOne, joins employees at CareOne at King James on Route 35, Middletown, receiving financial assistance from the CareOne Disaster Relief Fund to offset the impact of Super Storm Sandy.
The fund, started by Straus’s daughter, Elizabeth Straus, raised more than $1 million to assist employees and areas hit by the storm last October.
Straus presented checks totaling $500,000 on April 24 to 20 of the facility’s employees. The relief fund also presented $30,000 in checks to the Middletown Disaster Relief Fund and Help for Highlands, organizations working to assist their community members in the storm’s aftermath.
“This is our commitment to our loyal employees,” Straus said. “Our employees care and we at CareOne care about them.” The relief fund awarded assistance based on an application process, with the money intended to help employees restore their homes and lives, according to Tim Hodges, chief strategy officer for CareOne.
CareOne operates more than 29 facilities around the state and cares for approximately 3,000 patients.
M’Town Business Lauded for Support of the Military
MIDDLETOWN – Chiafullo’s, a 60-year-old township business built on a foundation of community service, recently received the Seven Seals Award for supporting local veterans.
The award was presented by members of the Middletown Veterans Affairs Committee on April 24 during a special Hiring Our Heroes job fair that brought more than 30 employers together with job-seeking veterans. The event was held at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2179 (VFW).
“The award is a testament to Chiafullo’s long-standing advocacy for those who have honorably and humbly served the country,” said Lt. Col (ret.) James Guerrieri, Veterans Affairs Committee vice chairman.
Business owner Meghan McLean said, “Chiafullo’s believes in giving back to those who have given this great country more than anyone could possibly ask for, our nation’s veterans. We believe in giving back, have always given back, and will continue to give back to the causes important to the communities we serve.”
According to event organizers, Chiafullo’s staff surprised attendees with a delivery of 25 pizza pies. “We certainly appreciated the generosity,” said Jim D’Elia, chairman of the Middletown Veterans Affairs Committee and a past commander of VFW Post No. 2179. “Then again, that’s not unusual for Chiafullo’s.”
Chiafullo’s delivers seven days a week from two locations, one in Navesink in the A&P Shopping Plaza and a new location in Campbell’s Junction, Belford.
