FREEHOLD — A Monmouth County corrections officer will lose his job after pleading guilty to altering a physician’s prescription to obtain pain medication.
Justin B. Diomede, 32, pleaded guilty in Superior Court on Friday to one count of attempt to obtain a controlled dangerous substance. The plea means Diomede will lose the job he held for six years. He was earning $64,286 a year at the time he was suspended last November, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.
Diomede changed a prescription for 30 Roxycodone, a pain medication, to 140 tablets and tried to have the prescription filled, causing the pharmacist to contact authorities, according to the prosecutor’s office.
Diomede also was charged with one count of forgery, a third-degree crime, which has been dropped as part of the plea agreement.
