TINTON FALLS — Former Red Bank Mayor Edward J. McKenna Jr. pleaded not guilty Tuesday during his initial appearance in municipal court here Tuesday on charges of driving while intoxicated and other motor vehicle offenses.
The court has yet to list the date of McKenna’s trial, as court officials evaluate documents, said Megan Thomas, court administrator. The date should be set sometime this week, she said.
McKenna, who served as mayor from 1990-2006 and was Red Bank’s longest serving Democratic mayor, was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and unsafe lane change, when his vehicle stuck a guardrail on the Garden State Parkway on the evening of May 13.
