James “Jim” J. Madden, 81, of Hazlet, passed away Saturday, April 30. Jim was born in the Bronx, New York, to Michael and Catherine Madden. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He then married the love of his life, Catherine Johnston, and moved to New Jersey to raise his family. He worked as a building manager in Manhattan. Jim enjoyed his retirement gardening, playing with his dog, but most of all spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jim is survived by his brother, John, and his wife Roseann; his two daughters, Debbie Taddeo and her husband Peter and Cathy Madden and her fiance, Dane Douglas; two granddaughters, Meghan Hall and her husband Trevis and Caitlin Plein and her husband Paul; three great-grandchildren, Madden, Annie, and Finn; and beloved nephews and nieces.
Memorial donations may be made to his favorite charities, the ASPCA or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
