ASBURY PARK – Monmouth United reached its goal of raising $100,000 at its successful “United to Restore the Shore” benefit concert at Asbury Park’s famed Stone Pony and that it would soon be helping local residents affected by Hurricane Sandy.
“The success of our event on Sunday not only benefits our families and neighbors who lost everything in Hurricane Sandy, it shows that both sides of the aisle can work together for the common good,” said Monmouth County Republican Chairman John O. Bennett III.
The money raised in Monmouth County on Dec. 30 has been earmarked by the New Jersey Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund to help local families.
“This past weekend, Monmouth County demonstrated an important lesson for the rest of the country – bipartisanship works,” said Vin Gopal, chairman of the Monmouth County Democratic Organization. “Together, we will continue to rebuild and restore all of Monmouth County.”
Justin Braz, president of the New Leaders Council of New Jersey and an event organizer, said his group was proud to partner with the other organizations involved with the benefit concert to help raise funds to restore the shore.
“The NLC is dedicated to developing New Jersey’s future leaders and look forward to continuing our efforts to bring people together to support our communities,” Braz said.
Bennett said that for those who may have missed the concert, the opportunity to help still exists either through donations or through the purchase of “Restore the Shore” t-shirts that are available for sale.
