RED BANK—The Red Bank Catholic Performing Arts Department held a Breast Cancer Awareness Show on Friday, Oct. 16.
The intent of the benefit show, held every other year, was to honor ever y person who has in some way been affected by breast cancer and to encourage early detection.
Through dance and song, performers portrayed the stages of breast cancer and the strength a person needs to fight the devastating illness. Performances depicted the initial diagnosis, the struggle, and finally the stage of receiving help and support from friends and family.
Monologues throughout the show explained the facts about early detection and how it has saved so many lives. The show was choreographed by RBC’s dance director Stacy Bascom and dance teachers Kelly Gemellaro and Rachel Wasser, as well as guest choreographers, Caitlin Krow (RBC Dance alumni) and Sarah Goodhue.
A portion of the proceeds was donated to The Rose Foundation, which works to ease the financial strains associated with cancer so patients and their families can focus on beating the disease. The Rose Foundation helps inspire the courage, strength and confidence that patients need to fight.
