LINCROFT – The Monmouth County Park System will be holding Thompson Park Day from 11 a.m. and to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19.
Those attending will be able to enter the annual scarecrow contest. Contestants are asked to bring a face and clothing for their scarecrow while the park system will provide the framing and stuffing. The contest runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Prizes will be awarded.
Pre-registration is available online at www.monmouthcountyparks.com and costs $10 per entry. Same day registration is available for $15 on a first-come, first-served basis.
The scarecrow contest is just one of many family friendly activities offered at Thompson Park Day. Free activities include canoeing on Marlu Lake, weather permitting; kids’ races, and entertainment. Other free offerings include Meet the Mustangs, Dash for Cash, Zany Zombies and Discover Walnford.
Activities requiring a ticket, with each ticket costing $3, for grab n’ go ceramics, pumpkin painting, wagon rides, inflatable rides, archery, Dixie Turbo Tubs, Bungee Trampoline and Dixie Little Swinger. The Creative Arts Center will be offering Fired Up Ceramics for five tickets.
